Social Media PD
Social media 1: #edchat on Twitter#edchat was created by three educators, for educators. There are weekly discussions that take place on Tuesdays at 12pm EST and 7pm EST. After each chat, the conversation continues throughout the week. The topic of weekly discussions change each week and I think it could be beneficial for all teachers. I think this hashtag would be useful because it allows teachers to connect all across, and creates a space to participate in a weekly discussion. |
Social Media 2: #sschat on Twitter
Social Media 3: @teacherspayteachers on Instagram
Social Media 4: @missreadysetteach on Instagram
This account is ran by a Spanish teacher who helps encourages new teachers and supports new teachers. I think that as a new teacher it can be helpful to have accounts to look at for support.
Social Media 1 from Kearsten Grubb's website: National Association for Multicultural Education (NAME) on Facebook
NAME is a Facebook Group that focuses on sharing multicultural education resources. I would join this group because it would give me resources to incorporate multicultural education and lessons into my classroom. It is also a space that would allow me to connect to other educators who implement a multicultural education in their classrooms.
Social Media 2 from Jessica Rhodes's website: Teacher Professional Development on Facebook
Teacher Professional Development is a Facebook group provides tools and resources for all educators. As a new teacher I think this group would be useful in helping me become a better teacher. But I also think it would be useful for veteran teachers as well.
Social Media 3 from Caitlyn Fischer's website: WeAreTeachers-First Years! on Facebook
This Facebook group creates a space that encourages and supports first year teachers. I would like to join this group as a first year teacher because it is nice to know I have support and a space where I can ask questions, as well as look for helpful info and tips.
Social Media 4 from Jaren Marino website: Tweetdeck
Tweetdeck is an useful tool to help better organize user experience on Twitter. I could use Twitter to separate the academic accounts I follow, from the non academic accounts. This could be especially useful for partaking in the weekly discussions that I mentioned for social media tool 1 and 2.
