Target grade level: US History (Pre and/or Post 1865)
Tool 1 (gather and display student/group work)
A fun tool that I could use to display student work is Pixton. Pixton is tool that allows students to make comic strips. Pixton allows for educators to create a classroom, and each student is able to see the work of their peers. I think this tool is neat because it allows students to be creative, but also keeps them engaged. The only downfall is some of the features do cost the teacher.
Tool 2 (create a shared space for students to place ideas)
A tool that I could use to help create a shared space for students to place ideas would be Mural. Mural is great option for sharing ideas in real time. Each student has their own account and can work on a project at the same time. This tool would be great for brainstorming ideas for a group project or paper, as well as preparing a study guide.
Tool 3 (orchestrate discussions)
A tool I could use to help orchestrate discussion in the classroom would be Parlay. I am choosing Parlay because it would also be a great option for online classrooms. Parlay allows teachers to create their own "universe". With your own universe, teachers can upload information and topics for their classroom. Teachers can use their universe to create discussion boards and live round table talks. The live roundtable talks are my favorite feature of Parlay. The live roundtable feature allows teachers to create a space that encourages both meaningful and organized student led discussions The roundtable is controlled by the teacher, but students are all active participants and it is still mostly student led.

Another feature that I think would be useful is the overview that is provided at the end of the discussion. It allows both the teacher and students a brief overview of the discussion.
Tool 4 (classmates tool)
I am choosing Book Creator from Mrs. Fischer's class. I think this is great tool for both gathering and displaying student work. I could use it for a research project, or even daily work. Book Creator would also be great for group projects and collaboration. Pictured below is an example from the website. Book Creator allows videos and pictures to be embedded into the books, which I would use in a future class.
